The content on this website, including the recipes in the diabetic and bariatric sections, is general-interest cooking information. It is not medical advice, nutrition therapy, or a substitute for guidance from a physician, registered dietitian, or your surgical program.
What our recipes are and are not
We describe food, ingredients, techniques and textures. We do not prescribe portions, meal timing, or eating stages, and we do not claim that any recipe treats, prevents, cures or manages any medical condition. Recipes labeled “diabetic” or “bariatric” describe a cooking approach, not a clinical recommendation for any individual.
Where our nutrition numbers come from
Nutrition values on recipe cards are calculated from the ingredient list using the USDA FoodData Central database. They are estimates for the recipe as written; substitutions, brands and portioning will change them. If you rely on precise counts, weigh and calculate your own ingredients.
Talk to your care team
Decisions about what, when and how much to eat with diabetes belong with you and your care team. The American Diabetes Association publishes general guidance at diabetes.org. After bariatric surgery, follow your surgical program first; the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery publishes patient resources at asmbs.org.
If you have or suspect a medical condition, or experience an adverse reaction to any food, contact a qualified health professional. Never disregard professional medical advice because of something you read on this site.
